Volunteers
The CASA volunteer opportunity is unlike any other. Nowhere else are everyday citizens empowered by the court. It is indeed a tremendous responsibility, but one that is immeasurably rewarding. Despite the concern of the social worker, the attorneys and others involved in the life of an abused and neglected child, their voice often goes unheard due to the overburdened child welfare system. That's were the CASA volunteer comes in. Appointed by the judge, the volunteer is typically assigned to one case at a time and commits to remaining as the advocate until the child or children involved are placed in a safe, permanent home. This provides a consistent presence for a child, a face that they know and can learn to trust, when other faces come and go. By becoming a CASA volunteer, you become the voice of our most vulnerable citizens, our children.
